The Medical Technician assists in maintaining the medical needs of the individuals which include but are not limited to: Escorting individuals to medical office visits, follow-up medical appointments and treatment, assist with assuring physician orders are carried out and documented, makes documentation of all medical visits and assists with assuring that they are forwarded to all facilities to be recorded in individual’s records in a timely manner. Meets regularly with Medical Technician Supervisor; assists with monitoring medical equipment and supplies; participates in Individual Service Plan meetings; Assists with medication audits at least quarterly at all program sites to assure compliance of state regulations are being adhered to. Carries out other job duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Qualifications:
Possess skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, community and staff; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;; knowledge of mental retardation and related physical, health, and behavioral concerns; enjoys working with all people; possess caring and positive attitude; and experience working with persons with mental retardation; Has some medical background training i.e. CNA training etc, or at least two years of successful work experience with persons with developmental disabilities, mental illness.
