Quality Assurance Director

JOB TITLE: QUALITY ASSURANCE DIRECTOR
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

General Function:

The Quality Assurance Director assists the Executive Director in defining the standards to be followed in order to meet the requirements as outlined in local state and federal regulations to effectively operate the agency for both the staff and the individuals receiving services.

 

  • Conduct Quality Assurance compliance audits of facilities and processes.
  • Observes safety regulations, encourage safe working practices, correct obvious hazards immediately or reports them to Executive Director.
  • Direct and coordinate compliance with all applicable standards such as Medicaid, Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and Human Rights
  • Ensures that all personnel are trained to perform their jobs effectively 
  • Develop plans and other required procedures to ensure policies procedures to assure the company meets quality standards

  • Reviews all reports and documents prior to filing and distribution

 

The Quality Assurance Director reports to the CEO and serves on the executive management team; and assists and advises company Directors/Administration about quality improvement and risk management issues.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assigns, reviews, and evaluates the work of professional residential, in-home and day support staff.
  • Interprets and implements quality assurance standards.
  • Conduct investigations, root cause analysis (CHRIS) and data analysis. 
  • To monitor unusual occurrences, report follow-up procedures, and report monthly and year-to-date comparisons. 
  • To assist the assist the executive director with records form revisions and procedures.
  • Reviews quality assurance standards, studies existing policies and procedures, and interviews personnel and customers to evaluate effectiveness of services 
  • Writes policies and procedures in accordance to local, state and federal regulations.
  • Reviews and evaluates patients’ medical records, applying quality assurance criteria.
  • Compiles statistical data and writes narrative reports summarizing quality assurance findings.
  • Assists departments with the coordination of audit information, and recommends appropriate data-gathering mechanisms, procedures, etc.
  • Reviews testing, quality of services, and other testing reports for accuracy, completeness and compliance to requirements to ensure that quality assurance standards and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Assists the Executive Director with revisions to company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains current and accurate records of all relevant communications, audits, corrective action plans, and effectiveness monitoring.
  • Develops methods, procedures, and filing systems to accomplish work.
  • Supervises Program Directors, Senior Records Technician and Senior Medical Technician
  • Quality Assurance Director assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the CEO.
  • Responsible for managing safety activities within the organization.
  • When a variance is reported, each variance is reviewed thoroughly and investigated by the Risk Manager to include follow up actions and system/process development to prevent recurrence. 
  • Communicate requirements to staff and monitor compliance
  • Discuss barriers to compliance with staff who do not meet threshold
  • Monitor errors by individual staff members

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Broad knowledge and experience in local, state and federal regulations that pertain to licensed group home facilities. 
  • Above average oral and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop professional staff members. 
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a successful participant on the executive management team that provides company leadership and direction. 
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.  Must include Excel and skills in database management and record keeping. 
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality. 
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Requirements

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree. Three plus years of progressive leadership experience and supervisory experience. Ability to identify problems, and initiate corrective actions and preventative actions. Knowledge of state local and federal regulations of Human Rights and the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services. Customer oriented and service minded. Capable of analyzing data in order to support the development of strategies to effectively manage action plans that will resolve company issues. Ability to communicate both written and orally, to all levels of management and across different cultural backgrounds. Ability to identify problems, and initiate corrective actions and preventative actions. Ability to conduct investigations, root cause analysis, and data analysis.
